Monitoring/Analysis:

How does your station or, perhaps, your breakfast show compare alongside your rivals, or against similar stations elsewhere in the country?

Do you want to make sure you’re playing music while your competitors are talking or playing commercials?

Is your music mix the way you want it to be, or is someone else beating you to the news stories that matter to your listeners?

For all of these questions, programme content analysis can give you the answers you need, as well as highlight potential problem areas, including being able to get a direct comparison between a number of different stations across the same day/period.

Over the past few years we’ve provided monitoring and programme output analysis for many licence applications for both Ofcom and the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland, including the following winners:

Radio Norwich

Town 102 (Ipswich)

Swansea Bay Radio

KCFM (Hull)

Jack FM (Oxford)

The monitoring carried out for Jack FM’s winning application was mentioned by Ofcom as being one of the key determining factors for awarding the licence.

“In particular, it was considered that Jack FM’s 'Pop Rock' and 'Classic Rock'-based (but nevertheless eclectic) music policy would be likely to give exposure to a variety of genres or styles that applicant monitoring demonstrated are generally under-represented in the music output of existing Oxford commerical stations.”
